Bougainvillea Safari Lodge

Bougainvillea Safari Lodge is located on the outskirts of Karatu town about midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. Being situated in a busy town, Bougainvillea Safari Lodge has a slightly different yet more lively feel than other more remote safari destinations; however, it is set back off the main road and guests won’t find this charming lodge noisy or crowded. The bungalows are comfortable and spotless and the staff are warm, friendly and hospitable, leaving guesyts feeling as though they could have been visiting old friends. For guests traveling with thier own safari guide and 4WD vehicle, this good-value lodge is incredibly convenient for visiting either Lake Manyara, or the Ngorongoro Crater.

Bougainvillea Safari Lodge Activities

A 45-minute walk around the busy town of Karatu can be arranged, whereby guests will have the opportunity to visit a local village and meet some of the members of the community and get a taste for their way of life. The lodge has a guide who will be happy to show you around as an inclusive part of your stay. Bougainvillea can arrange guided and self-guided walks, lasting from about 30 minutes to 3 hours, around the beautiful coffee farms in the area. There is a guide who can accompany guests on these tours and provide an insightful look into the history of the coffee farms and the Karatu area. For wildlife viewing, the location of Bougainvillea is conveniently placed near some of the most amazing wildlife areas on the planet. The gate to the World Heritage Ngorongoro Conservation Area is about a 15-minute drive from the lodge. To the east and south lies Lake Manyara National Park, a jewel of a park lying on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. With about 1200 species of birds, Tanzania is one of the best places to bird-watch.
