Faru Faru Lodge offers luxury and elegance in a rustic setting overlooking the Grumeti River in the Grumeti Reserve which forms part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, bordering on the Serengeti National Park. The private Grumeti Reserves concession consists of an enormous area of 350,000 acres (140,000 hectares) of wild and unspoilt wilderness teeming with wildlife. The area forms part of the famous wildebeest migration which normally pass through the reserve between May and June. The reserve also has good resident wildlife making it a good safari destination year round.

Faru Faru Lodge Game Viewing and Activities

The highlight of the gameviewing nromally happens between May and June when the annual wildebeest migrations crosses the Grumeti River. The camp is well positioned to enjoy the migrating herds. Expert guides will accompany guests on interpretive, twice-daily game-drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles into the game-rich Serengeti National Park, boasting the largest mass of free-ranging animals on earth. As there are only two small camps in this remote park, you almost never see other safari vehicles. Sundowners on the Kirawira Hills are a memorable way to end a day’s safari. With over 341 species recorded, bird watching around Grumeti is exceptional birdwatchers almost always exceed their sighting targets. Game drives and walks can be enjoyed with professional guides amongst the most experienced in East Africa, whilst other activities include archery, lawn croquet, mountain biking, equestrian pursuits, and hot air ballooning. The Equestrian Centre is situated adjacent to Sasakwa Lodge, and is home to sixteen horses. The Centre includes a lunging arena, fenced paddock, and a walled 2.7 kilometre riding track, which can also be used for walking and jogging. More experienced riders can enjoy outrides onto the Serengeti plains. Tack is English style, and guests have the choice of either English or Western saddles.
